We are Stupid

I offer the following as evidence to support my position.
Anyone else other than me completely fed up with the gouging that is happening for groceries?
Lets start with "Cereals".
Did you know that a few years ago a bunch of the major cereal manufactures got into trouble for price fixing (AKA Gouging).  The penance for their greed resulted in pricing set at about $4-$5.00 per kilogram of cereal for a number of years.  Ah, but alas, no more.  The manufacturers have been released from the constraints that bound them and now cereal is again ridiculously priced. in fact it has near doubled in price.  They try to mislead us by shrinking box sizes so that "Jumbo" means 800 grams – 1000 grams instead of what was 1300 grams – 1500 grams.  Let us all keep in mind the cost of production/packaging for these items is under $2 per box.  The manufacturers set pricing based upon portioning costs instead of fair product value.  So why can they charge $10 per kilo of cereal?
Now how about the "Meat Processors"…
"Customers don’t like market fluctuations which result in pricing going up and down…"  This was a quote from a spokesman for the meat marketing board when asked why in the face of all of the issues with BSE, Bird Flu, etc, why the market prices hadn’t dropped at the grocery stores to reflect what our producers are/were getting paid. So lets see how this adds up:
Market good, demand high, limited supplies = Meat Prices High
Market crap, demand low, abundant supplies = Meat Prices High…?????
Oh, I see the error in my calculations.  I was missing a variable.  Lets do this again.
Market crap, demand low, abundant supplies, "Consumers are Stupid Bleating Sheep" = Meat Prices High!!!!
See? The common variable in all of the high prices is  "Consumers are Stupid Bleating Sheep".
The list goes on and on, but the math remains the same.
