Is it freedom of expression? Or is it just freedom from the constraints from another’s religion?
Should another’s beliefs be imposed upon you? Upon me? Should another’s Religious doctrine constrain my freedoms?
Let us examine this.
Our current "Western" system of laws is predominately modeled upon the "Christian Doctrine". Why is this? Should as a society, if we are really free from the constraints of others and their religions, should not our Governments, our laws, be independent and blind to religion? Any religion? Our laws mirror morals and values that are established and preached in the Christian faith. Should people be on one hand be told to follow the laws set by one religion but then ignore the laws and doctrine of another religion? How can one proclaim their right to Freedom of Expression yet dictate the terms and freedoms that another has based upon their religion?
The right to “Free Expression” seems to be limited to one class of people. You know, the hypocrites.
The reality of it is you can’t really have freedom of religion until you have freedom from religion.
I guess not much of a surprise though… at least not for those like us.
