MEDICINE HAT — Citing problems with violence and vandalism, some businesses in this southern Alberta city are banning British soldiers.
Understandably a business should be able to take measures in order to ensure the security of it’s business and in fact it has a duty to protect their patrons and employees. I am pretty sure though that a total ban on an entire group becuase of a few bad apples is a ridiculous way of addressing the problem.
Lets try to get past the narrow minded small town thinking for a minute and keep in mind the economic value that Suffield contributes to Medicine Hat if it isn’t enough that these British soldiers (our allies) stand beside us out here when other countries are content to sit back and do nothing. Medicine Hat & businesses should be doing more to encourage business and services not less.
Frankly, any business that out of hand turns away a person soley because they are a British serving member, can count on this Canadian serving member drinking elsewhere too.
