Buying land in Alberta

Started on the path to find a property which has been an intensely frustrating prospect.

Probably the most annoying part is all the listings that use in the description “potential”… Like really, you think you should profit in advance of whatever work and sweat that I do on the property?? Like seriously. Fuck off. Shove your property up your ass. What is it that makes everyone think that there is an oil derrick sitting on everything just waiting for the oil to be wrung from it?

I’m comparing land between here in Alberta and Ontario I’m finding it an impossible and unjustifiable proposition to purchase here.

Argh… rant over

Mandatory winter driving training / testing should be a requirement to operating a motor vehicle in Canada.

So driving to the gym this morning heading south on 66th street crossing 158th ave this a-hole decides he’s going to switch lanes directly in front of me cutting me off and forcing me off the road into the windrows that are piled up onto the west side of the road. The f-ing prick doesn’t even slow down or stop and just drives away, so after a little 4 wheeling I get back onto the road, catch up to him and force him to stop. He refuses to show me his license or insurance and tries to prevent me from taking a picture of his license plate and face. He kept rambling on how he was a security guard and not a criminal when I told him I was going to report the incident to the cops. I am so F-ing sick of all of these idiots on the road that have no business holding a driver’s licence and operating a vehicle on Canadian winter roads. How about mandatory testing for those that don’t have the knowledge and experience necessary for navigating the snow and ice in the winter! The dashcam video of the moron is here.

UJACKETS A.K.A. Ultimate Jackets

Bought this jacket recently and man o man was I disappointed…

Arthur Curry Justice League Aquaman B3 Bomber Jacket

First of all the size of the jacket was ridiculously small. One of my children might be able to wear it but there is no way it is a 3XL size unless it was intended to be a child’s size.
Secondly the style of the jacket isn’t even close to what was pictured. Was this supposed to be some sort of cheap Halloween costume?
And third the quality of the material is more likely PU leather and polyester fun fur liner, like something you would buy at Walmart for $30 Canadian, not $300 Canadian.
What a complete rip off.
I guess we will see what their return policy is like…
Cheers
***UPDATE***

Good afternoon.

I received the jacket today and to say I was disappointed would be putting it mildly.

What a complete rip off.
I’ll be sure to post reviews and pictures online as to what you actually supply.

So….

I decided this was obviously not going to go the way I wanted to I contacted PayPal and registered a dispute.

Got all my money back with the exception of the initial $23 from the import/duties and I had to payout for the return shipping of $35.

*** BTW, the reviews on their sites are bullshit.

On the way home to Edmonton…

Well it has been a while since we have lived in Edmonton but my work has taken us back home (well in 27 days…).  We are all very excited about it as we have been away from our friends and family up here for far too long.  Looking forward to a new adventures…, new job…,  still working the bugs out on new housing but that will tend to itself.  An old school house, apartment block, would be awesome should anybody know of anyplace with a minimum of 4 bedrooms to rent with a preference for North, North/West Edmonton, or Edmonton Area.

Mulcair defends dual citizenship, accuses PM of parochialism, hypocrisy.

I don’t think anybody really expects anything else out of Mulclair other then divided loyalties.

He rides the NDP tide of the new found separatist support while wrapping himself in a Canadian Flag.

How about it Mulclair, exactly where do your real loyalties rest?

And if you’re concerned about governments snooping into your data, he added, “any time you cross the border … they can open up your laptop and they can clone your hard drive.”

Which means for most people access to your banking, account info, logins, passwords, contact lists, email…

So much for the “Free world” eh?

Focus on crisis, not money, Attawapiskat chief urges.

Well it is obvious that self government and throwing money at the problem isn’t working so maybe it is time for integration so that the systems and controls necessary are put in place to protect those that cannot manage for themselves.

Actually is mainly ticks me off when they say they will have to charge more for their traffic shaping, throttled, substandard services.  Pretty fed up with paying more because we are Canadian and pretty much for the most part just roll over and take it.

Being as the government is in the deregulation mood how about we start letting the US carriers start offering Cable, Cell Phone Service and Internet to us.

Shameful for businesses to be open during Remembrance Day ceremonies.

I find it pretty shameful how some companies are open for business tomorrow morning during the Remembrance Day ceremonies.  You would think the least they could do would be to open at noon instead so that their employees could pay there respects.  Maybe if companies are unable to do the right thing it should be something that is legislated.
